The Virgen de Guadalupe Clinics in Equatorial Guinea are a network of private healthcare facilities established by Constancia Mangue de Obiang, the country’s First Lady, to enhance the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. It has become a symbol of progress and a cornerstone in the government’s efforts to improve medical services.
The Clinic in Malabo (Main Clinic): The flagship Virgen de Guadalupe Clinic is located in the capital city, Malabo.
The clinic offers a wide array of medical services, with a focus on family care and child wellness. Specialties include pediatrics, general medicine, and minor surgery.
The Challenges
Given that the project involved the installation of a complete medical gas pipeline system, we recognized the importance of having local African technicians who could remain on-site in the long term and provide ongoing support after installation. At Silbermann, we therefore developed a specialized training program to equip a team of technicians with the skills needed to install and maintain medical gas systems in African hospitals.

Project Overview
This project delivered a comprehensive upgrade of the hospital’s medical gas pipeline system, replacing the initial installation with next-generation technology. By modernizing the system, the hospital now benefits from advanced medical gas equipment designed to support a variety of treatments and meet the highest standards of patient care.
The Project Included
1. Installation of
- Medical Gas Alarm Panels
- Manifold systems and changeover units
- Medical pendants and lamps in the operating room
- Core systems – oxygen generator, vacuum system, medical air
- Copper piping for medical gases
2. Checking lines for leaks during gas transmission
3. Testing & commissioning before customer acceptance
